Moreh duo held with 11 kg WY tablets

Imphal, March 22 2024:
A combined team of Manipur police commando and 5 Assam Rifles apprehended Tongkhohao Haokip (44) s/o Ngulhao Haokip of Tinnu Munjang village and Lamkholun Baite (48) s/o Doujam Baite of S Cananphai village, both under Moreh sub-division from Moreh Canan Veng on Thursday along with 11.740 kg of WY tablets.
According to police report, the two travelling in an auto-rickshaw driven by Tongkhohao were stopped by the combined team at Canan Veng around 9am on Thursday for checking subsequently resulting in recovery of nine large packets and another packet.
On further examination the packets were found containing WY tablets weighing 11.470 kg.
Both persons along with the recovered WY tablets and the auto-rickshaw have been handed over to Moreh police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) claimed that the seizure of WY tablets was made by Assam Rifles teams after an auto rickshaw trying to escape security checks was intercepted at a mobile vehicle checkpoint set up at Cannan Veng.
The PRO estimated international market value of the seized drugs at Rs 5 crore.
