No poll duty for pregnant, lactating women

Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency returning officer and Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash has informed that women government employees, who are pregnant or are lactating mothers will be exempted from duty for the 18th Lok Sabha Election.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, RO Subhash informed that exemption norms will cover employees who would be retiring in six months and to a spouse if both husband and wife have been assigned election duty.
Mentioning that application of polling personnel seeking exemption on medical ground will be taken up in the meeting of the Medical Board on March 29 and decision of the Board will be final, he asked all employees seeking medical exemption to submit their application before the sitting.
A Subhash further conveyed that order has been issued directing all the polling personnel who will be on duty during the 1st phase of election on April 19 in 238 polling stations that their training will be conducted at Thoubal College on March 23, 24 and 25.He also directed all polling personnel who have received their appointment order to report for the training.
