Imphal, September 23 2023:
While lauding the state government for acting on the public demand for restoring mobile internet service after four and half months, Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has, nevertheless, held both the state and central governments responsible for the present conflict in the state.
In a release, MSC/CPI secretary M Joykumar Luwang noted that people have been exerting pressure on the government by launching protests to uphold interest and aspiration of the state and its people whenever there is any sensitive issue.
However, failure of the government to take timely action led to Manipur passing through a critical stage regardless of the masses' aspiration to live peacefully and harmoniously, he continued.
The secretary, thus, advised the government to take initiatives for ensuring natural justice considering the grievances of the people.
Claiming that the Women's Reservation Bill, which will ensure 33 per cent reservation of seats in the Lok Sabha and the state assemblies is the brain child of Communist party, he recalled that Congress and Communist party tried several times to pass the Bill.
However, those opposing it simply changed the name and passed it.
CPI is also delighted to see that the Bill as has been finally passed, Joy-kumar stated, while adding that Narendra Modi should not try to woo the voters in the upcoming election based on the Bill as people will never accept it.
