Imphal, September 23 2023:
Taking serious note of the crackdown on village volunteers who have been defending the peripheral villages and fighting the aggression aimed at disintegrating the state, a joint meeting of different community organisations held under the aegis of Langthabal Kendra Clubs' Coordinating Committee has resolved to launch a movement for filing mass anticipatory bail.
In a statement, the Committee said that the decision was taken keeping in view of the threat of getting arrested for defending the state, during a joint meeting of around 40 organisations including FOCS, AMUCO, Committee of 30 AC, Thawai Meerel, TUC, MSF, Meitei Leepun, Langthabal Kendra Meira Paibi Coordinating Committee, All Kongba Road United Clubs' Organisation, Sagolband Apunba Lup, Kuraomakhong United Club, and Naharol Yaiphakol, held at Langthabal Kunja Moirang Subedar Lampak on Saturday.
The meeting strongly condemned the re-arrest of village volunteer Moirangthem Anand by NIA and resolved to support movements for demanding release of Anand and against any further arrest of village volunteers.
The meeting also discussed the intimidation of the committee president Y Hitler by around 10 unknown persons, who came in a Maruti Gypsy and a car at his home at Lilong Chajing while threatening him of dire consequences if Saturday's meeting is convened.
The meet strongly condemned the intimidation and demanded clarification from those persons involved.
Considering the possible crackdown by the government against village volunteers, who have been defending the state and its people due to failure of the government, the meet also resolved to launch a movement for mass filing of anticipatory bail to prevent arrest of village volunteers.
