CoTU urges PM Modi to end Manipur violence

Hundreds of people across Kangpokpi came out on the National Highway-2 on Friday to protest the attack at New Keithelmanbi and torching of houses at L Jangnomphai village allegedly by the armed Meiteis.
The protest held under the aegis of the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Kangpokpi district along the Highway at Bongmol village urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit them at least for five minutes purely on humanitarian grounds keeping aside politics.
The protest rally also dismissed the contention that Kuki militants attacked Meetei villagers.
CoTU general secretary Lamminlun Singsit said that on October 4 around 10:30 pm, armed Meitei groups set ablaze farmhouses at Moidangpok which belong to the Meitei to falsely project the incident as attack by Kukis.
He continued that a vio lent confrontation occurred between the Gorkha Regiment and the Meitei armed groups, but, instead of re treating, the Meitei groups stayed in the border area during the night and renewed their attack in the wee hours on October 5.CoTU Women Wing's convenor, Neinu said Kuki-Zo people will no longer tolerate the superior mentality of the majority Meitei community.
She then appreciated the Central security forces for their swift action and sought sympathy to provide complete security to prevent such attacks in the future.
Questioning sincerity of the Union Home Minister, Neinu pointed out that even after five months of the violence the Union Home Minister is unable to control the Meitei mobs.
She then conveyed wish of Kuki-Zo people that the centre sort out our political aspirations at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the protestors shouted slogans, 'We want Justice", "we want Separate Administration", "Stop false allegations", "Stop false narratives", etc.
