Institute of driving and training inaugurated

Imphal, October 06 2023:
Chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday inaugurated the Institute of Driving Training and Research Centre established at Top Dusara in Imphal East district under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) .
Speaking at the inauguration event, CM Biren expressed hope the operationalization of the Institute will help reduce number of accidents in the state as human lives are precious and loss of lives due to accidents are very shocking.
One of the causes for accidents in the state is lack of technical knowledge of driving among the people operating vehicles, he noted and stressed the need to follow traffic rules and regulations properly.
He also explained few facilities available at the institute and opined that opening of the institute will help in proper issuance of driving licenses.
The Transport department should also see that the IDTRC take a major role in authorization of driving licenses, he added.
The inaugural function was also attended by ministers/MLAs Govindas Konthoujam, Awangbow Newmai, L Susindro Meitei, H Dingo, Khashim Vashum, Th Shanti and Sapam Kunjakeshore, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi among others.
