BSEM appeals for disturbance-free HSLCE

Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) chairman Akham Joykumar has appealed to the people of the state and civil organisations to refrain from calling any bandh or blockade during the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2024, commencing Friday.
Addressing a press meet at the conference hall of the Board at Babupara here on Thursday, Joykumar informed that 37,715 candidates would be appearing in the examination this year and it includes 18,087 male and 18,628 female candidates.
Out of these, 9119 are from government, 1315 government aided and 27,281 from private schools.
The examination will be held across 154 centres including 63 in hills and 91 in valley, monitored by 154 each SO, OC and AOC.
Keeping in view of the law-and-order situation in the state, 12 nodal officers have been appointed for the hill districts.
They will shoulder the responsibility of transporting question papers and inspecting cen-tres in the hills.
The board has also constituted 25 inspection teams for the valley centres and these teams have representatives from different student bodies as members.
He further informed that OMR sheets will be used this time and urged OC and invigilators to ensure the candidates do not make mistake in filling their answer (OMR) sheets.
He also urged centre in-charges not to open the seal of the question paper until 9 am even though they will reach the centre half an hour before the commencement of the examination.
Joykumar also said that the board had allowed form fill-up for around 1000 displaced students.
Informing that stringent steps have put in place to ensure conduct of examination in free and fair manner, he appealed to all concerned to refrain from calling bandh or blockade during the examination period.
