Health check-up camp conducted

In connection with observance of World Kidney Day-2024, a daylong free health check-up camp was organised by RIMS Department of Nephrology at the Wangjing Kadompokpi Sports Complex relief camp on Thursday.
The camp themed 'Kidney Health for All' was conducted under the supervision of Department of Nephrology former head Dr N Sharatkumar Singh, incumbent head Dr T Brojen Singh, Prof Dr Lk Sharatchandra Singh, nephrology students and junior resident Dr Akoijam Anjali, with assistance of representatives of pharmaceutical companies.
During the health camp, the residents underwent blood sugar test, urine analysis and blood pressure examination, in addition to being provided with free medicines.
World Kidney Day-2024 themed 'Kidney Health for All' observed by Kidney Care Clinic, RIMS Road was marked by distribution of edibles to patients and their families the Clinic staffers led by RIMS Department of Nephrology former HOD N Saratkumar.
According to Saratkumar, Kidney Day held on every second Thursday in March is aimed at creating awareness about kidney related health risks and complications, and duly follow preventive measures.
Informing that latest data indicates use of over-the-counter pain killers severely affecting kidney, he appealed to the people to consult with doctors concerned to avoid such complications.
Mentioning that diabetes, abnormal blood pressure, blood in urine and swelling of limbs could be symptoms of kidney issues, he stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle based on healthy diet, avoid tobacco, alcohol and other harmful substances.
