NIA arrest case traced to 2023

The three cadres of Pambei led UNLF who were arrested yesterday is related to case number 23 of 2023 NIA New Delhi which refers to 'transnational conspiracy by Myanmar based leadership of militant outfits to wage a war against the Government of India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in Manipur' .
Notably, the NIA had arrested one Moirangthem Anand Singh (45), s/o Late Achou of Singjamei Sorokhaibam Leikai in the same case on September 21 last year too.
The NIA had sent a letter to Imphal West SP to confirm the arrest of the three cadres of Pambei led UNLF namely Thokchom Shyamjai @ Thokchom Gyaneshor @ Thoiba @ Zaw Tun @ Sidabamapu, s/o (L) Ibotomba of Mayang Imphal, Laimayum Anand Sharma @ Ingba, s/o (L) Indeshwar Sharma of Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai and Ibomcha @ Landaba @ Ibomcha, s/o Lokeswar of Salam Keikhu Langjing yesterday itself and requested Imphal West SP to inform the development to the respective family members.
The registered case number 23 of NIA Delhi was registered on July 19, 2023 as a suo moto case by NIA New Delhi.
It may be mentioned that Moirangthem Anand was arrested by a team of NIA in connection with the same case number 23 of 2023 NIA New Delhi on September 21 soon after he was granted bail along with four other persons in connection with another case registered at Imphal East police station.
Moirangthem Anand was airlifted to New Delhi shortly after he was arrested and he is currently at Tihar Jail.
It was reported that the investigation of RC 23/2023/NIA/DLI by NIA has revealed that leadership of insurgent groups based in Myanmar are recruiting overground workers, cadres and sympathizers to augment the strength to carry out attacks on security forces and opposing ethnic groups by exploiting the unrest in Manipur apart from collecting arms, ammunition and explosives.
