Sensitization workshop on HIV/AIDS held

A 1-day sensitization workshop on "HIV/AIDS (P&C) Act 2017" for students and faculty members of Manipur University was held today at the VC Court of the varsity.
The workshop organised by the Department of Vocational Studies & Skill Development, Manipur University (MU) under the sponsorship of Manipur State AIDS Control Society was graced by the varsity's Vice Chancellor Professor N Lokendra, School of Social Sciences Dean Professor Th Purnima, Registrar Professor W Chandbabu and MACS (Care, Support & Treatment) Joint Director Dr H Diamond as presidium members.
In his speech, Prof N Lokendra mooted the idea of including HIV/AIDS sensitiza-tion programs on the Corporate Social Responsibility of MU.
He added that students of Manipur University can take up various activities relating to HIV/AIDS like generating awareness at village level as part of the CSR.
Highlighting that HIV/AIDS related courses in the university can also be included either as Value Addition Courses or Skill Development Courses, Prof N Lokendra asserted that students who pursue these courses can work in HIV/AIDS related departments, NGOs and under the sponsorship of International Funding Agencies.
The Vice Chancellor further lauded the role taken by MACS and NGOs in curbing the menace of drugs and HIV/AIDS in the State.
