CYCLONE, MODEL, TRAU script wins in MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, March 14 2024:
CYCLONE (Thangmeiband), MODEL (Singjamei Chingamakha) and TRAU (Kwakeithel) won their respective matches in the 8th MNCA W Prahlada & W Ramananda Elite Tournament on Thursday.
CYCLONE recorded a five-wicket victory against CHAMP Cricket Club (Khagempalli) at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Imphal.
Nongthombam Denin ripped through CHAMP's batting order, taking four wickets and helping CYCLONE skittle out their opponents for 106 in 41.4 overs after the Thangmeiband squad opted to bowl.
Nongmaithem Suraj Singh did his bit with two scalps while Bikash Singh and Abdul Kasim got one apiece.
Narsingh Yadav, who scored 55 off 121 balls, was the lone bright spot in CHAMP's innings.
CYCLONE wrapped up the chase in 28.4 oyers with five wickets remaining.
Muhammed Al Bashid (43), Nongthombam Denin (22 not out), and Rohit Singh Moirangthem (19) were key contributors to Thangmeiband's successful chase.
In the process, CYCLONE lost four wickets to Md Sultan Karim and one to Thingbaijam Nicholson Singh.
Langlonyamba Singh M shone with the bat to help MODEL beat ESU (Wangkhei Palace Compound) by two wickets at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
MODEL decided to field and restricted ESU to 179/8 in the stipulated 45 overs.
ESU's innings saw Chongtham Mehul Shreth collect 44, Sanatomba and Thokchom Nishikanta Singh each make 30, and Keithellakpam Poirei Federick score an unbeaten 23 .
For MODEL, Sunil Salam claimed two wickets while Robertson Singh Laishram, Waikhom Priyokumar Singh and Langlonyamba Singh M each got one.
In their response, MODEL took 41.1 overs to achieve the target with two wickets in hand.
Langlonyamba Singh was the star performer in the chase with a knock of 98 as Dibak Naorem was unbeaten on 20.Bipinkumar Langpoklakpam (13) and Suson Yanglem Singh (11) also contributed in the Singjamei Chingamakha side's win.
Chitaranjan Sharma and Chongtham Mehul Shreth both grabbed three wickets for ESU while Lourembam Dipu Singh took two in their loss.
Elsewhere, TRAU pulled off a 20-run win over RULE (Meitram).
Asked to bat, TRAU garnered 219/9 courtesy of Pri-yojit Kangabam (68), Amritakaran Singh Yumnam (29 not out), Anand Naorem (23), Dr Siddharth Shah (21) and Yumnam Karnajit (19).The Kwakeithel side then stopped RULE in 43.3 overs for 199 .
Anand Naorem led the attack with a three-wicket haul as Priyojit Kangabam and Mutum Swabhiman picked up two wickets each, with Puinachandra Sharma Anoubam contributing one to steer TRAU to a 20-run triumph.
For RULE, Sanjenbam Suresh top-scored with 52, followed by Nongthombam Sarojkumar Singh (32), Sanjenbam Somokanta Khuman (23) and Jay Singh (22) in their futile run chase.
Earlier, Jay Singh claimed three scalps while Thokchom Kishan Singh, Avinash Asmali and Nongthombam Sarojkumar Singh took two each for the Meitram team.
