Imphal, April 05 2024: Continuing their demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list for the second consecutive day, World Meetei Council, Manipur State Unit (WMC/MSU) staged a protest demonstration at Pangantabi under Thoubal district raising various slogans.

Members of Social Development & Sporting Club (SDSC), South Eastern Manipur Development Organization (SEMDO), Pangantabi meira paibis and WMC/MSU participated in the protest under the united slogan of "ST Status for Meetei-The Only Way Forward", said a statement issued by Th Sushila Devi, information and publicity secretary, WMC/MSU.

Other slogans raised during the demonstration include "Delaying ST is denying ST", "All MLAs say yes to ST demand", "CM Biren can't compromise our future for his personal interest", "Send the reports for Meetei ST inclusion before MP elections", "Only ST status can save Meeteis from 2026 delimitation exercise", "NRC, ILP, border fencing cannot save Meeteis", "Other communities cannot decide the future for Meeteis", "Don't support the MP candidates who do not support the ST demand" etc among others.
