Imphal, June 12 2023:
Coordinating Committee on Ma-nipur Integrity (COCOMI) has appealed to all concerned not to buy or sell lands/ properties of the displaced people and urged the government to take note and put a stop to this matter immediately.
Addressing a press meet at its Uripok office on Monday, COCOMI co-ordinator Jeetendra Ningombam stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs formed a Peace Committee on June 10 with the Governor of Manipur as chairperson, with the aim of restoring peace in the state.
Although COCOMI was invited to be part of the Committee, it declined stating that the government of India has failed to take any action to the satisfaction of the people of Manipur, he disclosed, adding that peace will be restored in the state only when the central and state governments take control of the narco- terrorists.
Even now, civilians are being attacked with sophisticated weapons, he said, and added that peace would not be possible until they are put under control.
Joining the media briefing, COCOMI media co-ordinator Somendro Thokchom laud-ed the formation of the Peace Committee but said that it will be impossible to restore peace in Manipur unless the cen-tral government puts a stop to the narco-terrorists attacking civilians.
Immediate imple-mentation of NRC will help identify and drive away illegal immigrants, he stated while urging the Peace Committee to inform this key point to the Prime Minister, union home minister and parliament.
