Maintaining that it is difficult digest the forma-tion of a peace committee at this juncture when violence and attacks are being carried out by the Meitei community, Committee on Tribals Unity (COTU), Sadar Hills has out-rightly rejected formation of the Peace Committee.
A public meeting was con-vened Monday at Kangpokpi town under the aegis of COTU in the wake of the Meitei Leepun chief and COCOMI's alleged "unlawful statement" in declaring war against the narco- terrorism.
At the public meeting at-tended by village chiefs, civil society organisations of Kang-pokpi district and prominent Kuki leaders among others, COTU spokesperson K Sitlhou elaborated that three resolu-tions adopted condemned the "unlawful statement" of Meitei Leepun chief Pramot Singh and the COCOMI in declaring war against the Kuki commu-nity in Manipur in addition to branding Meitei Leepun and COCOMI as "outlawed organ-isations" and demanding legal actions against Pramot Singh and COCOMI leaders.
With regard to the public meeting rejecting formation of the Peace Committee, he said: "We are not against peace and the objection does not mean we do not want peace, but, it is very much non-conducive at this juncture when the Meiteis are constantly engaging in violence, attack, killing and torching the Kukis village" .
He then said that thepublic meeting also unanimously reaffirmed the demand for separate administration while adding that the demand for separate administration shall be our constant goal until achieved.
