Patsoi incident resolved after police tender apology

Imphal, June 12 2023:
Following the apology tendered by Manipur police department represented by DIG Range-III Angam Roma-nus Kamei in the presence of Noney deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson and SP N Nimai to the customary court of Rongmei Naga Coun-cil Manipur, the assault case at Patsoi police check post on Sunday has been amicably resolved The incident happened when seven persons from Longmai Part-4 village trav-elling in a Tata DI towards Imphal from Noney to bring back their belongings from a rented house at Waheng-barn Leikai were stopped by some police personnel at the check post and two of the villagers were thrashed badly without any reason.
The sev-en persons are Pouramjuan Riamei, son of Gideon Riam-ei; Guigaipou Riamei, son of Chagiriang Riamei; Gaisuiliu Kamei, wife of Ningchuin-gam Kamei; Lungsingthuan Kamei, son of Ningchuingam Kamei; Daliah Kamei, daugh-ter of Ningchuingam Kamei; Gairiangliu Kamei, daughter of Kareingam Kamei; and Kaoliangliu Kamei, daughter of Kareingam Kamei.
All of them are from Longmai Part-4 village, Noney.
Police personnel involved in the incident are N 'lik-en Singh (Constable No 1805160), S Amit Singh, (Constable No 0183016), S Suresh Singh (Constable No 1905445) and N Johnson Singh, VDF- VII 2029.With the negotiation reached between the third parties in the presence of various CSOs leaders, the road block along NH -37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) has been lifted immediately.
Meanwhile, various civil society organisations ap-pealed to both the state and central governments to de-ploy security personnel in adequate strength to safe-guard public along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road and check unwanted incidents in the future.
They further appealed to civilians who are checking travellers along NH-37 road to stop immedi-ately if the travellers produce their identity card.
On the other-hand, Ze-liangrong Baudi deplored the Patsoi incident and ap-pealed to security personnel deployed in the state to re-member their prime duty, role and responsibility to protect people in any even-tuality.
Once the credibili-ty of police personnel and security forces are lost and questionable, the public will never be able to have trust and confidence on them, the conglomerate body of Zeliangrong civil organisa-tions added.
Deeply concerned over the continuing violence, the Ze-liangrong civil organisations said the government must take up tough, strong and effective measures to bring the situation under control for any negligence may ag-gravate the situation.
