Senapati, June 12 2023:
Northern Maram Students & Youth Organi-zation (NMSYO) and Wil-long Circle Students & Youth Organization have appealed to the work agencies con-cerned for immediate re-sumption of the repair work of the Maram-Peren Road (NH-129A) which has been halted since May 17 follow-ing disturbance from some anti-social elements.
In a joint statement, the organisations informed that a joint meeting of the two was held on June 11 in con-nection with stoppage of the road works (Package IA & 1B) wherein reports of burning down machines, snatching vehicle keys and assault of labourers to halt the highway repairing were deliberated.
It also pointed out due to suspension of repair work normal chores of the people have been seriously impacted with possibility of landslides at different locations along the route, especially where retaining walls are yet to be constructed, compounding the problem.
Considering the inconve-niences being faced by peo-ple settling along the road stretch, the joint meeting resolved that no individu-al or group should disturb development work of the Maram-Peren road within their jurisdiction; threat or disturbance caused to the work agencies, damage of any machine/proper-ty strictly prohibited; due course of action and mass public agitation against the perpetrators to be initiat-ed if the resolutions of the meeting is undermined, the release said while appealing to Senapati district adminis-tration to provide protection to the work agencies and to book the culprits involved in anti-social activities.
