Imphal, June 12 2023:
The call for protection of Manipur's integrity and immediate abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militant groups is ever growing with more and more people coming out in support of the demand.
A sit-in protest was staged today at Lamphel Sanakeithel jointly by five villages of Thangmeiband Ward No 3 .
Speaking to media persons, a protester Kongbrailatpam Shyama Devi appealed to the MLAs/ Ministers of the State to understand the aspirations of the people and take immediate action to safeguard the integrity of Manipur.
Questioning the lack of collective effort by the elected representatives, she also urged the MLAs/ Minister to not remain a mute spectator when the whole State is burning and fulfil their duties responsibly to protect the lives of innocent civilians and their properties.

At the sit-in, the protesters displayed placards and banners with slogans such as, "No separate administration in Manipur", "Safeguard Manipur's integrity", "Implement NRC with 1951 as base year", "Cancel SoO with Kuki militant groups", etc.
Meanwhile, the Rural Development Association (RDA) has asserted that the Central and State Government have terribly failed to end the violence in Manipur even after one month since the conflict began on May 3 .
In a release, RDA alleged that the Kuki militant groups under SoO have continuously violated ground rules and attacked innocent civilians and destroyed houses in many villages.
RDA appealed to the 50 MLAs of Manipur to not ignore the cries of the public and take immediate action to protect innocent civilians from the atrocities of armed militants.
RDA further urged the Government to implement NRC in Manipur and cancel the SoO with Kuki militants at the earliest.
