Candle-light vigil in Tripura appeals for peace

Meira paibi associations, womens' groups and local organisations of Tripura continue to take out peace rallies and dispatch essential items for those displaced by the onslaught of violence in Manipur.
In the same vein, Puthiba Welfare & Cultural Society and All Tripura Meitei Community organised a candle-light vigil under the banner of 'Candle for Peace' at Abhoynagar, Tripura yesterday.
Locals of Abhoynagar as well as staff of Tripura Medical College took part in the candle-light vigil and sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and NEDA Chairman cum Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in restoring peace in violence-hit Manipur.
Social worker Ngangom Ngoubi and residents of Abhoynagar namely Mayengbam Abhiram, Nongsatabam Niranjan Dutta, Sinam Deepak Kumar, N Pranoy and Konsam Binoy also made earnest calls for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur during the candle-light vigil.
On the other hand, Manipuri Council Tripura, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura Manipuri Student-Youth Coordination Committee and Lamyanba, a social cultural organisation are set to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister through Tripura West District Magistrate on June 15 in this connection.
