Body cautions against year-end, New Year parties

Nongpok Sayang Apunba Lup (NSAL) has appealed to the public not to celebrate New Year's Eve and New Year programmes in Yairipok area and advised underage against driving in inebriated condition.
A meeting held at Yairipok police station on Thursday ahead of the New Year's Eve and New Year celebrations with the participation of various clubs of Yairipok under the initiative of NSAL was attended by NSAL president Laishram Ananda Khurnan, secretary Longjam Digen Singh, SEDO president Nongmaithem Subash, SDPO Yairipok Md Riyazuddin, Yairipok police station OC Md Jeheruddin and representatives of clubs.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, NSAL president L Ananda informed that the meeting resolved that people should refrain organising Bye-Bye and New Year parties in Yairipok area.
Mentioning that during checks conducted at SEDO club, Yairipok Keithel heavy vehicles especially dumper trucks operating along Thoubal - Yair ipok - Kasom road were, found overloaded and operated by drivers without driving licence, underage and under influence of intoxicants, he cautioned all concerned not to repeat such offence, failing which vehicle owners should bear the consequences of defying collective decision of the clubs of Yairipok.
Ananda also stated that the meeting expressed displeasure over indifferent attitude of owners of two vehicles involved in an accident on December 27 at Wangkhem that claimed the life of a girl and left two others seriously injured.
The owners are yet to show up to discuss the accident even after being formally intimated to meet by 10 am on Thursday, he said.
The meet also resolved that to enforce the resolutions passed by submitting a memorandum to authority concerned, he added.
