Meira Paibi Day observed

The All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) observed the 43rd Meira Paibi Day at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen, Thangmeiband today.
The observance began by litting a torch and offering floral tributes in honour of the expired Nupi Samaj members.
At the function, Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani said that the movement of meira paibi was launched out of necessity in the 1970s to fight drug abuse and other ills of the society.
Saying that the pioneers of the meira paibi movement had a common interest to safeguard Manipur and they weren't influenced by anyone, Ramani expressed desire for all the mothers to unite and reinforce the meira paibi movement.
Stating that the ongoing violence has taken a heavy toll on everyone, she appealed to the Government to stop the onslaught of Kukis and work out a solution to the ongoing violence.
She also said that the education environment should be free from any form of disturbance as it is the students who will shape the future of Manipur.
Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Lourembam Nganbi, Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup president Yambem Momon Leima, Chingtam United Welfare Association (CHITUWA) president Maibam Purnima Leima, Women Association for Socio Economic Development (WASDEV) president RK Tharaksana Leima, Iramdam Kanba Lup (IKAL) president Naorem Memma Leima, Nupi Samaj advisor Khundrakpam Indu Leima and Kabui Mothers' Association (KMA) president Atongpi Kamei attended the programme as presidium members while former Dean of School of Manipur University Professor Naorem Joykumar was the resource person.
