Free ration for five years: FCI DM

Food Corporation of India (FCI) Regional Office Imphal, deputy manager K Sathyakumar said that free ration would be provided to beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for the next five years.
Addressing a press conference at the FCI Regional Office, Imphal on December 27, Sathyakumar said that PMGKAY is being implemented in the country under the policy Food for All: Nutrition for All and the scheme will continue till 2028 .
In order to smoothly implement the scheme, FCI has 45,410 MT of rice in stock in nine depots in different districts of the state, which would last for at least four months.
Eco-friendly banners will be put up at 2314 fair price shops to ensure widespread awareness among the beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries with valid ration cards can receive their share of rice from any of the fair price shops under the scheme, he informed.
