Imphal, December 29 2023:
Although Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is helming the affairs, it lacks the decorum of a ruling party.
It is extremely embarrassing to see a party, which had formed the government, behave in such an inferior manner, remarked Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president Kh Devabrata.
The 167th birth anniversary of Yubraj Bir Tikendrajit was observed by MPCC at Congress Bhawan, BT Road here on Friday.
As part of the observance, the gathering offered floral tributes to the portrait of Bir Tikendrajit.
Recounting Yubraj Tikendrajit's love and sacrifice for his motherland, Kh Devabrata stressed the need for the young people to remember the brave heart's courage and long-term vision.
His mentality needs to be instilled in everybody concerned, he stressed and wished for peace and normalcy to be restored in the state with the anniversary.
Pointing out that the present unrest situation in Manipur is not the time for political parties to engage in diatribes; Devabrata clarified the statements by a Congress MLA, stating that the MLA meant that the party is ready to sacrifice the two MP seats if it will bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
The MLA also urged for expulsion of the 10 separatist MLAs from their respective parties and replace them with new representatives.
These statements are not as horrendous, as has been portrayed, he said.
The working president continued that BJP has failed to follow the decorum that a ruling party is supposed to maintain.
It is behaving inferiorly, which is highly embarrassing.
There is no need to comment on whether Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Nyay Yatra" will be successful or not.
BJP has been telling lies after lies, taking into account of the fact that the conflict has been continuing for over eight months.
BJP should be ashamed of having the Congress unmask all its wrongdoings, he stated.
MPCC VP Hareshwar Goswami also recounted the contributions and sacrifices of Bir Tikendrajit, adding that the patriot's sacrifice will forever remain etched in the pages of history.
He then said that the wave of geopolitics is now sweeping over Manipur, with the on-going conflict an example of the same.
Thus, he urged for keeping aside political differences and working together to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The observance was also attended by MPCC office bearers, PCC, DCC/BCC members, party workers and others.
