Home guards yet to receive equal benefit as Manipur Police: MHGEWA

The Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) has asserted that despite the direction of the Supreme Court, Home Guard personnel of the State are yet to receive equal benefit as the personnel of Manipur Police (MP) .
Briefing media persons today at MHGEWA office in Luwangsangbam, president of the association Y Mangi shared that over the years, home guards have been utilised in assisting in various security duties as per the guidelines of the Manipur Home Guards Act and Rules.
He stated that 7th Pay scale has not been fully implemented for home guards despite the Supreme Court judgement/ order to enhance duty allowance and provide equal benefits.
"Home guard personnel are yet to receive ration money", he added.
Highlighting that home guards have been assigned myriad of duties in assisting police and maintaining law & order, Y Mangi expressed hope that if the home guards do their duties diligently & sincerely, the Government and authorities concerned will acknowledge the contributions of home guards and fulfil the long standing demands of the association including the inclusion in Manipur Government Employee List and Seniority Promotion Guidelines.
Later, a calendar of MHGEWA was also released.
