Public meeting resolves to defuse tension, demands NRC

Imphal, June 17 2023:
Coordinating Committee of Clubs and Organisations (COCOCO) organised a sit-in protest cum public meeting at Langdum Kangjeibung Lampak in Imphal East today.
During the meeting attended by club volunteers and community leaders of 21 villages, the committee adopted several resolutions to bring peace and thwart any untoward incident amid the present crisis.
Besides a resolution to unite and defuse tension, the committee resolved to appeal to the Centre and the State Government to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur.
The committee also resolved to assist civil society organisations and stand against any attempt to form a separate administration of the Chin-Kuki people.
Former rebel leader RK Sanayaima alias Meghen, AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, FoH president Sapamcha Jadumani, Phulindro Konsam and MI Khan among others spoke at the meeting.
At the meeting, RK Meghen stressed on the issues facing the State and opined that the present conflict would end when the Government abrogates Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Kuki militants.
