RIMS celebrates foundation day

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Thursday celebrated its 52nd foundation day at the jubilee hall of the institute.
Meritorious awards were distributed to select medical students during the observance while RIMS Director Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma presented the annual report of the institutes.
Speaking as the chief guest, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that RIMS has been rendering dedicated service to the people not only in Manipur but also in North East India.
Saying that RIMS started as a medical institution catering to the needs of the North East States, the Governor said that the objective of RIMS is to provide quality medical education and improve the health conditions of the people in rural areas of North East States.

The institute has accelerated its development with the opening of super speciality, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Anusuiya Uikey acknowledged and added that the institute is making efforts to increase its academic and research activities.
Appealing to the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to establish a good rapport with patients, the Governor said that doctors should not only be competent but also dedicated and provide better service to the patients.
Recalling her early career as a student leader, the Governor asked the students to work for the welfare of humanity and betterment of society.
She thanked the Director, faculties, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and students of RIMS for their efforts to make RIMS one the most excellent centres for medical education, research, health and medicine in the country.
May RIMS be upgraded to the status of AIIMS in the near future, the Governor prayed.
