Manipur fetes meritorious students

Imphal, June 21, 2010: The first 20 position holders as well as subject toppers in the class XII examination (Higher Secondary Examination, 2010 ) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary School were felicitated and presented awards during a function held at JN Manipur Dance Academy here today.

Education Minister L Jayantakumar presented the awards.

Each of the toppers in the three streams of Arts, Science and Commerce were honoured with one gold medal, Rs 3000 in cash and citation.

The second toppers were awarded Rs 2000 in cash and citation each while the third toppers with Rs 1000 in cash and a citation each.

The first three toppers in Arts stream who were honoured at the occasion are respectively Dinringam Kamei of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram; Mercy Lalumpui of VK Tawna College, Lamka, Churachandpur and Yulung Sophia of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram.

The first three toppers in Science stream who were honoured are respectively Pushpanjali of Human Resource Academy, Ghari; Kangjam Debshree of Herbert School, Changangei and Nongmaithem Nilima Devi of TG Higher Secondary School.

The first three position holders in Commerce stream who were honoured are respectively Harish Chander Joshi, Salam Deepak Singh and Singreiyo Kashung, all students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram.

Position holders from 4th to 20th place were also honoured at the occasion with one book and a citation each.

Moreover, position holders as well as toppers in various subjects were also felicitated with awards donated by different individuals and institutions at the occasion.

Apart from honouring the Science stream topper with K Manichand Memorial Cash Award, toppers in all the three streams of Arts, Science and Commerce were felicitated with Jasobanta Taorem Memorial Cash Award, Loktongbam Nelis alias Joychand Singh Memorial Cash award and Thokchom Birahari Singh Memorial Cash Award respectively.

Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Integrated Trust Cash Award was presented to the subject toppers in Manipuri and Elementary Manipuri.

Subject toppers in Manipuri who were honoured with the award are Thiyam Shantipur Singh of Brajalal Institute of Science, Moirangkhom; Huidrom Hemojit Singh of Millennium Institute of Science and Tekcham Parosini Devi of Vision Creative Higher Secondary School.

The subject topper in Elementary Manipur who were honoured with the award are Tensubam Asharani Devi of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School and Laishram Ibemsana of Heirok Higher Secondary School.

Doumuamsaim of Rayburn College, Churachandpur who secured highest mark in Paite (MIL) was honoured with Paite Literary Society Cash Award.

For securing highest mark in Economics, Lalcha Haokip of Damdei Christian College, Kanglatongbi was honoured with Maisnam Megha Singh and Thagoi Devi Memorial Award.

In Mathematics, Bonita Yurembam of Herbert School, Changangei was presented Irom Kulachandra Singh Memorial Award for securing highest mark.

Thangminlien Haokip of Soikholal Ideal Higher Secondary School, Churachandpur who secures highest mark in Thadou Kuki subject, was felicitated with Late Pu Lalkhopao Singsit Memorial Award.

The late Shri Thangjam Bahadur Memorial Cash Award was presented to Pushpanjali Takhellambam of Human Resource Development Academy for securing the highest aggregate marks among all the three streams.

For securing the highest mark in English subject, Pushpanjali Takhellambam of Human Resource Development Academy and Kangjam Debshree of Herbert School were again honoured with Late Shri Thangjam Bahadur Memorial Cash Award.

Mercy Lalumpui of VK Tawna College was honoured with Th Sheuti Devi Memorial Cash Award for securing highest mark in Home Science.

For securing highest mark in Physics, Pushpanjali Takhellambam of Human Resource Development Academy was honoured with Late Khumukcham Nodiasana Memorial Cash Award.

The N Amuyaima Singh Memorial Cash Award was presented to Dinringam Kamei of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram for securing highest mark in Sociology.

The topper in Arts stream was also honoured with Chongtham Ongbi Rajkumari Sanatombi Memorial Cash Award and Smt Pourillu Kameipui Memorial Merit Cash Award.
