CCpur/Kpi, February 23 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today promised an end to armed insurgency in the hills of Manipur if the BJP is voted to power, as he sought a second stint for the party at a rally in poll bound Manipur's Churachandpur district.

Visiting the hill districts of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally at Imphal, Shah trumpeted peace and development as the party's priority for the State.

If voted to power for another five years, the BJP will ensure that the hill based insurgent groups, particularly the Kuki groups are taken to the negotiating table to put an end to insurgency, he said.

At Brigadier Thomas ground in Kangpokpi, the Union Home Minister also reached out to the people and appealed to them to vote for the three BJP candidates Nemcha Kipgen (Kangpokpi AC), Yamthong Haokip (Saikul AC) and Ngamthang Haokip (Saitu AC) .

At Lamka Public Ground, Churachandpur, the Union Home Minister said, "We will replace the guns in their hands with that of laptops, keys of industrial houses, and motorbikes" .

Shah who addressed the gathering in Hindi received the much needed applause after his speech was translated by the party's candidate in Saikot AC.

The BJP has already delivered what was promised to the youth of Bodoland.

The same thing will be done for the tribal people here, said Shah.

Grooming the youth to be a powerhouse in sports that will bring Olympic laurels for the Nation will be a priority.

The ball for this has already been set into motion as the party under the leadership of PM Modi has instituted the country's largest Sports University here, he said.

To tap local talents in sports, Khelo India Centres will be set up in all districts, added the Union Home Minister.

Ensuring power for the party will also pave the way for Manipur to become the most developed among the North Eastern States.

The whole narratives of the State will change.

The legacy of Instability, Insurgency and Inequality will be replaced with Inovation, Infra-struture and Integration, he said.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh while addressing the event highlighted the achievements of his Government claiming it was his Government that established Medical College in Churachandpur, gave Nupi Keithel and set up Oxygen plants in every district of the State.

The Union Home Minister accompanied by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, Sambit Patra, and four of the six BJP candidates in Churachandpur also conducted a brief house-to-house campaign, distributing the party pamphlets during his visit.

Churachandpur AC MLA V Hangkhanlian, Singngat MLA Ginsuanhau, the party candidates in Saikot and Henglep ACs Paolenlal Haokip and Letzamang Haokip were also present on the dias while Thanlon MLA & Minister Vungzagin Valte and Tipaimukh MLA Dr Chantonlien Amo - both contesting on the BJP tickets were not present as they campaigning in the interior parts of their Constituencies.

The six Assembly segments of Churachandpur along with 38 others in the House of 60 will go to poll on February 28, in the first of a two-phased election.

During his short speech at Kangpokpi, the Union Home Minister said "I have come here to appeal to the people of Kangpokpi to vote for the three BJP candidates" .

He said that if the people of Kangpokpi and Manipur vote the BJP into power again, "we will bring long-lasting peace to the State by bringing all the militant groups into the mainstream" .

"We will bring the Kuki militant groups to the mainstream and solve their problems to bring long-lasting peace if they vote the BJP to power", asserted the Union Home Minister.

"We know Kangpokpi is dominated by diverse communities and we will take on board all the community and we will not leave any community behind as BJP is the only inclusive party in the Nation," added Shah.

The public meeting at Kangpokpi District Headquarters was also attendee by Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, Assam Minister Ashok Singhal, who is also the election co in-charge Manipur, BJP General Secretary(Organization) in charge of Manipur and Nagaland, Abhay Kumar Giri, BJP candidate of Kangpokpi AC, Nemcha Kipgen, Saikul AC Yamthong Haokip, Saitu AC Ngamthang Haokip, BJP Manipur state Secretary in charge of Sadar Hills, Paokam Haokip, BJP Sadar Hills President Thangjamang Kipgen, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal President, Tingnei Lhouvum, ADC Sadar Hills Caretaker Chairman Haokholal Hangshing and party leaders and Karyakarta across Kangpokpi and Manipur apart from the mammoth supporters of the BJP across the district.
