UNC gives clarion call to Nagas for sane electioneering

Senapati, February 23 2022:
United Naga Council (UNC) has urged the Naga public to exercise restraint from over indulging in the "electioneering activities" such as intimidation, threat and violence saying that "any Indian election should not deviate the Naga people from its visions of free Nagalim".
In a statement, UNC said Indian election will come and go "as long as we are under the occupational forces of the Indian domination" .
The Naga body also stated, "But our political movement will continue till the Indo-Naga political issue is concluded" .
UNC continued that the "struggling native people" will continue to live on in their homeland and together "we will remain for the rest" .
UNC also mentioned that it is aware that unwanted incidents are popping up at different places like Tobumai village of Senapati district on February 18 night and firing at womenfolk who were engaged in a drive against drugs and other intoxicants by police commandos at Unapat village in Chandel district on February 19, and also at Tuishmi village on February 17 .
UNC also appealed to the Naga people in particular to be mindful of Indian elections but remain firm in supporting and upholding the "historic"' Indo-Naga Framework Agreement which was signed in 2015 "being our political goal and destination" .
It added, "Any Indian election should not deviate the Naga people from its visions of free Nagahm" .
Further, UNC appealed to the Naga public not to believe in unsubstantiated rumours circulated on some social media platforms and also be mindful of provocative utterances and activities that may cause disharmony among the people.
