Source: Chronicle News Service / DIPR

Imphal, February 23 2022: Suvidha Permission App, a significant app of the electoral system provides a single window system for giving election-related permissions within 24 hours of receipt of application, Assistant to Nodal Officer (IT) Amitkanta Okram said, adding that the Suvidha App is one of the 20 Apps developed by the Election Commission of India for simplification of the election process.

Amitkanta said Suvidha Permission App cell of Imphal West district has received 218 applications altogether till date out of which 169 have been accepted, 39 have been rejected and three have been cancelled.

He said the cell has received 133 applications for permission from candidates and political parties to hold meetings and use loud speakers in connection with the ensuing election in the district, adding that out of the total, 14 were rejected, five are in progress and one has been cancelled as on Wednesday.

He said the cell has also received 62 application for vehicle permits of which 40 were accepted, 19 rejected, one under process and two cancelled.

Further, according to Amitkanta, the cell has received 11 applications for permit to take out procession and use of loud speaker, out of which seven have been accepted, three rejected and one is in progress.

The cell has also received five applications for permit for street corner meeting and loud speaker and four have been accepted and one rejected.

The only application for opening of temporary party office received so far has been rejected, while the only application for door to door canvassing has been accepted, he said adding that two applications for permission to hold meeting without loud speakers have been received and accepted so far.

Three permits for construction of rostrum/barricade have been received out of which two have been accepted and one rejected.

Amitkanta Okram explained that candidates and political parties can apply for permissions online as well as offline for meetings, rallies, use of vehicles, temporary election office, loudspeaker, door-to-door canvassing, etc., during election directly on https://suvidha.eci.gov.in and thereafter, receive the permission approval status and order copy on the Suvidha portal as well as Candidate App.

It obviates manual intervention in granting permissions as the applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis, he said.

According to the ECI website, the elections have 4 technological phases where the ecosystems of these applications are used.

These four phases are Non-election, Pre-election, In-elections and Post-elections.

The apps work in tandem during Non-election, Pre-election, In-election and Post-election phases to create a perfect ecosystem providing seamless interfaces fas all stakeholders.

The applications have been designed carefully so that they cover all the phases effectively and the Suvidha Permission App is an app used during the In-Election phase.
