3 cadres of Pambei-led UNLF held

Imphal, March 13 2024:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the self-styled chief of army of Pambei led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and two other cadres of the outfit including the head of its intelligence department.
The arrested persons have been identified as Thoiba @ Sidabamapu of Mayang Imphal and he is the chief of army of the outfit, S/S lieutenant colonel Laimayum Ingba of Mayang Imphal (head of intelligence department) and cadre Landaba.
They were arrested from Ningthemkol today morning by a team of NIA personnel who were assisted by the Central and State para military forces.
Notably, the Pambei led UNLF had signed a talk agreement with the Centre and State Government at New Delhi on November 29 last year.
It is not clear whether they were arrested along with arms and ammunition.
Sources said that three of them were taken to Leimakhong Army Headquarters first before they were airlifted to Prayagraj in Allahabad from Imphal Airport in a special flight of Indian Air Force.
It is said that they might be taken to New Delhi.
Heavy security measures have been taken up by State and Central forces in strategic locations of Imphal East, Imphal West and along Airport road from the morning onwards today.
Sources also said that the security measures might have been taken up to prevent any kind of unwanted incident following the arrest of Pambei led UNLF cadres.
