Importance of energy conservation underscored

A one day 'Retailer Training Programme' was held today at the Election Counting Hall in Thoubal DC complex organised by the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) .
The retailers' training programme was held under the Standard Labelling Program of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The inaugural function of the training programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Ahanthem Subhash Singh IAS; MSPDCL Managing Director Hijam Shantikumar Singh and MSPDCL Executive Director (Technology) as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, DC Thoubal said that the training programme has been organised to sensitize the retailers on how to save and conserve energy so that the retailers can further raise awareness among the masses about the importance of energy saving.
Speaking at the occasion, Hijam Shantikumar Singh highlighted the need of deriving economic growth through energy conservation.
He also maintained that it is of utmost importance to let the current generation know the measures to control carbon emissions caused by burning of fossil fuels and its adverse impacts on the environment.
The training programme was attended by retailers from different places of Kakching and Thoubal districts and MSPDCL officials of the two districts.
