Seminar on 'India's Techade Chips for Viksit Bharat' held

A day-long seminar on the topic "India's Techade-Chips for Viksit Bharat" was jointly organised by Manipur University, Department of Physics and Manipur Institute of Technology at the MU Court Hall, on Wednesday.
The inaugural function of the seminar was attended by MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendro and Physics Department professor H Basantakumar Sharma as chief guest and president respectively while School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences dean Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam and School of Engineering dean Prof N Basanta Singh were guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Basantakumar informed that the seminar is being conducted to impart knowledge about advantages of semi-conductor industry to the students and to make the participants aware about essential requirements to get into the 3 semi-conductor plants of India.
As India is a developing country, it also needs development in the semi-conductor industry to minimise cost of import of electronic components which was 69 billion dollars in 2023 and is expected to rise to 110 billion dollars by 2030 .
India is targeting to be a global leader in production of electronic chips, he added.
