MKPC, NPC sail into quarterfinals of A Gandhar state polo tournament

Major Karan Polo Club and Nagamapal Polo Club registered wins on Wednesday to progress to the quarterfinals of the 1st Athokpam Gandhar (German) Memorial State Level Open Polo Tournament, held at Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang.
Kuber Singh scored six goals as Major Karan PC romped past IRC (Lamphel) 12-2 into the quarterfinals.
Major Karan PC jumped out to a 3-2 lead in the first period with a double from Shushilo Singh and a single from Riyakat Ali, while IRC scored their goals through Umesh Gurung.
In the second period, the Major Karan riders collected two more goals courtesy of Kuber and Shushilo, his second, before they made it 7-2 in the third period with both Riyakat and Kuber on target.
Major Karan PC then closed out the game in style as Kuber pumped in four goals and Shishilo added one for their emphatic 12-2 win.
Nagamapal PC booked their place in the last eight with a 7-3 drubbing of K&MMRS (Singjamei).
The Nagamapal squad started off with a 3-0 lead in the opening period as Bono scored twice and Victor got one.
They went on to make it 5-0 in the second period through Yaikhomba and Bono, before Bono completed his four-goal salvo and Victor scored his second goal in the fourth period, where Johny, Th Ranjan and A Ranjan also scored in vain for K&MMRS.
