AR holds Agniveer lecture, security meeting

Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised a lecture cum awareness programme on recruitment of Agniveer under the Agnipath Scheme at T Minou village, Moreh, Tengnoupal district, on Wednesday with the stated objective to encourage the youths join the Indian Army by providing insights into the Agnipath Scheme.
Aspiring youths were briefed on the recruitment procedures and benefits available under the scheme apart from the Assam Rifles assuring eligible candidates of comprehensive assistance including pre-recruitment training encompassing physical, medical tests, and written examinations.
According to PRO IGAR (S), 16 aspirants from T Minou and nearby villages participated in the programme.
In another statement, the PRO informed Assam Rifles organised a security meeting at S Khollen village on March 11 with the participation village chiefs and 15 villagers of S Khollen, Henglep and nearby villages of Churachandpur district.
The mutual interaction focused on measures to ensure peace in view of the upcoming elections as the villagers affirmed their support for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The villagers also shared their experiences, views and challenges faced by them due to the outbreak of violence in the area.
Such meetings, in addition to addressing local issues, help to foster mutual goodwill and trust, both of which are critical components of the state's peace-restoration process, the PRO said.
