Imphal, January 04 2024: The Komrem Union, North East India (KRU, NEI) has appealed to the communities involved in the present conflict to make Sagang a peace zone for all the people of Manipur.

In a release, KRU informed that Sagang Bazar is a big business centre for people of surrounding areas due to its favourable location at the tri-junction of three districts.

"But due to the continuous sit-in protest by the Meira Paibis of the surrounding areas in protest against the opening of the Army Outpost at Sagang and stranded armies at Sagang Bazar, no normal business transactions could be carried on", it claimed.

The Union also said that the public, small business owners and vendors are suffering for the last two months due to the situation at Sagang Bazar.

The Komrem Union appealed to the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to restore normalcy at Sagang Bazar at the earliest.

The Komrem Union further urged all the political parties of Manipur to jointly organise peace meetings and rallies for restoration of peace & harmony in the State.
