MSF observes 25th foundation day

Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) observed its 25th foundation day and silver jubilee celebration at the MSF Head Office in Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, Imphal today.
The ceremony was graced by Laishram Deben, Director, JNIMS Hospital; L Nandakumar, Director, Education (S); Chingkham Shamu, vice-president, Thounaojam Leikai Development Association; Ngariyanbam Milan, advisor MSF and Hijam Roshan, president in-charge, MSF as the presidium members.
The ceremony was kicked off with the unfurling of the MSF flag by the presidium members.
The gathering also observed a moment of silence to pay their respects to the deceased members of the student union as well as the martyrs who have laid down their lives in the ongoing Manipur crisis.

On the occasion, Hijam Roshan shared that in its early days, MSF had launched an awareness based academic campaign known as the 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi' campaign.
MSF has also strived to strengthen the education system in the State and educate the masses about the territorial and political status of Manipur throughout history.
Aside from student related activities, MSF has also launched many awareness campaigns to save the environment and protect the youth from drugs, he said.
In the face of threats posed to the indigenous communities by external forces, the MSF in association with five other student bodies including DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS etc submitted memoranda to the Central Government and staged many protests.
Speaking on the occasion, L Nandakumar wished the student union success in all their endeavours.
During his speech, the Education (S) Director listed out two big nemesis of students in the current generation as procrastination and addiction to social media/mobile phones.
Stating that these 'vices' destroy self-discipline in students, he added that things like yoga had been included in school curriculum to safeguard students from such bad habits.
Extending his warm greetings to MSF on its 25th foundation day, Laishram Deben stated that students should not only focus on their academic pursuits but also work for the welfare of society.
He urged the student community to work hard to emerge as well-rounded and indispensable members of the community.
