INF rings out peace call for everyone

Imphal, December 28 2023: Imphal Naga Forum (INF) has called upon the public to leave all mistakes behind in 2023 and welcome New Year 2024 by baddign adieu to violence and upholding the idea of peaceful coexistence.

Chief advisor of INF and DM University Associate Professor Dr Chance Raman made the remark during a press conference held at Adimjati Shiksha Ashram, Chingmeirong today.

Calling for constructive dialogue among the communities to address any issue, Professor Dr Chance Raman also extended a warm New Year greeting while comparing Manipur to a garden where different varieties of flowers bloom.

Stating that both hill and valley people have been created by God, he maintained that the communities should live together in harmony and expressed hope for peace to prevail in the State.

As an apex body of the Naga society, INF gives updates to the United Naga Council (UNC) from time to time.

Further, INF has also convened meetings with Taragi Cheisu three times where the latter espoused many uplifting ideas, said the INF chief advisor highlighting the necessity for cross community dialogue.

Stressing on the complexity of the Manipur crisis, he went on to question if the Manipur public do not share any common grounds and advised them against putting too much emphasis on the idea of "separation" .

He also urged the civil organisations to share a common ground and move forward on the basis of truth and the ideal of peaceful coexistence.

Maintaining that the conflict has devastated all developmental efforts in the State, he expressed anguish over the impact this will have on the upcoming generation.

He added that nothing good comes out of a war and that the erring party should have the courage to admit their mistakes and apologize.

"Accepting one's wrongdoings and further acknowledging the other's goodness will take us a step closer to the peace process", he said.

Saying that there appear to be many divisions between the "majority and minority community", he maintained that if the majority claims monopoly on everything, it will cause insecurity among the minority.

This makes dialogue necessary to bring back peace, he remarked.

The INF chief advisor further stated that this peace will come through sincere efforts coupled with a sacrificial spirit.

Today's press conference was also attended by Ambition, convenor INF; Athon Gangmei, co-convenor, INF; DS Panmei, assistant secretary, INF; LS Saloni, finance secretary and AS Hongpro Shimray, secretary INF among others.
