Arambai Tenggol condemns, clarifies

Imphal, July 17 2023: Condemning in the strongest term the heinous crime of killing Lucy Marem, the Arambai Tenggol (dissolved) has clarified that the killing of Lucy Marem was neither connected nor related with the activities of the Arambai Tenggol.

The objective of Arambai Tenggol was to save the future of all indigenous people of Manipur and "we never were irresponsible psychopaths as depicted by some groups," said a press release issued by Arambai Tenggol (Dissolved) .

The charge levelled against Arambai Tenggol for killing Lucy Marem d/o Thoukhal Marem of Narum village, Pallel by some apex bodies of Nagas is really very unfortunate.

Arambai Tenggol did not expect such kind of allegation from responsible bodies without concrete evidence, it said.

"We will be extremely grateful if they clarify the matter", it continued.

It then appealed to all concerned to explore the possibility of intentional attempts to taint the image of Arambai Tenggol and making them scapegoats.

Categorically saying that Arambai Tenggol should not be blamed for every crime committed in Manipur during this unfortunate period, it said that they are only a small group of reasonable young men who are committed to protect the culture and identity of the native land.

Saying that the Arambai Tenggol has been already disbanded, it appealed to all individuals/organisations not to blame the Arambai Tenggol without any valid proof/evidence.

So in case of any illegal activities, Arambai Tenggol, as a group, shall not be responsible but the concerned individual(s) shall be held responsible.

Since the culprits have already been apprehended, the relevant information could be ascertained from the Police Department.

The Government will certainly take stern actions against the miscreants/culprits according to law, it said.

"We appeal to our fellow brothers and sisters of Manipur to understand who is our kin and blood relation, and not to take any action which will be regretted later on", it added.
