Awareness on organ donation, transplantation held

Khongnangthaba University, in partnership with the MOHAN Foundation, organised a one-day awareness programme on organ donation and transplant processes at the University on Wednesday.
The event was organised under the Ayushman Bhava initiative of the Central government, which aims to promote organ donation and streamline transplant procedures nationwide.
The main objective of the programme was to educate the public about the importance of organ donation and associated procedures.
It served as a crucial step in addressing the organ shortage crisis in the country and saving numerous lives in need of organ transplant.
Leading experts, namely, programme officer Laishram Monica, and transplant coordinator Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, both from MOHAN Foundation, conducted informative sessions and shared insights on various aspects of organ donation, including its significance, the process, legal considerations, and dispelling myths.
The programme was chaired by university's dean and director Dr Aribam Guneshwar, whose leadership has been pivotal in fostering collaborations to advance healthcare initiatives.
Dr Guneshwar said, "We are honoured to have hosted this vital awareness programme in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation.
Organ donation is a noble act with the power to transform lives.
Through initiatives like these, we aim to dispel misconceptions and encourage more people to pledge their organs, ultimately saving lives and promoting a culture of compassion" .

their doubts.
