Imphal, January 18 2024:
Security Advisor and Unified Command Chairman Kuldiep Singh has stated that security forces, including Assam Rifles can take up appropriate actions when any citizen is harmed.
A team of Youth of Manipur (YoM), two displaced mothers and some members of Thawai Mirel met Kuldiep Singh at around 6.30 pm today.
During the meeting, Kuldiep Singh reportedly stated that security forces/armed forces on the ground can take appropriate actions if there is threat to security and law and order without waiting for orders from the higher authority, according to YoM representative Diana.
The team asked Kuldiep Singh to give a written statement on the possible steps that may be taken up if Kuki militants continue attacks against civilians.
The Security Advisor cum Unified Command Chairman must give a written statement or he should make an announcement that the people may fight the war by themselves if the Government fails to take up befitting action in the event of further attacks by Kuki terrorists, and the Central forces would be confined to their camps, demanded YoM.
The YoM team also asked Kuldiep Singh to vacate his post and leave the State if he cannot give a written statement to the effect demanded by them.
Kuldiep Singh replied that he never gives any written statement/assurance to any one in his life.
"I cannot give you any written assurance/statement but I may go back anytime if asked", he said.
Saying that his role is primarily advisory, Kuldiep Singh said that the Chief Minister too has the power.
"When there is a meeting, I attend the same only when I'm invited or called for by the Chief Minister", Kuldiep said.
He added that he may go back if the Governor or the Chief Minister asks him to.
