Kuki militants bombard Sugnu, Pukhao Shantipur

Kuki militants continue to rain bombs and bullets on Meetei villages in Sugnu and Pukhao Shantipur area.
According to reports received here, armed Kukis started attacking the Meetei villages in Sugnu and Pukhao Shantipur since February 12 night with the village volunteers too resorting to retaliatory firing.
In one of the attacks, one Sagolsem Loya lost his life while many village volunteers suffered bullet injuries.
One Kuki militant also died with some suspected to have been injured.
The Kuki militants continued their attacks on Pukhao Shantipur on Friday around 4 am.

Rifles personnel occupied the M-Top area from where the Kuki militants used to attack the Meetei village, gun bring from the side of Kuki militants ceased.
Meanwhile, in Sugnu area, bomb and bullet attacks by Kuki militants continued unabated from the side of Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages in Churachandpur district leading to damages of Meetei houses from bomb shelling.
However, no injuries have been reported.
The house of one Y Ibohal alias Moirangningthou suffered extensive damage after a bomb landed and exploded on the roof around 11 pm Thursday though no one was injured as the family members had already vacated the house.
Kakching SP, Sugnu SDPO and Sugnu OC arrived at the spot to take stock of the situation.
According to villagers of Sugnu, armed Kuki militants are raining bullets frequently as Sugnu is surrounded by Kuki villages on all sides.
They also informed that as Kuki militants are occupying Napat village on the other side of Manipur River after torching the whole village and driving away the Kom residents, attacks were being carried out the Meetei villages from bunkers set up in Napat village.
The villagers fervently appealed to the authority concerned to intervene immediately and do the needful
at the earliest.
