YWC, ESU, KCC record big wins in MNCA Superplate Tournament

YWC (Langthabal), ESU (Wangkhei Palace Compound) and KCC (Kongba Bazar) enjoyed emphatic wins on the second day of the 1st MNCA Superplate Tournament 2021-22 on Friday.
YWC got their campaign off to a resounding start by beating Muvanlai (New Lambulane) by 148 runs at Model Hr Sec & Oriental College Ground.
Fine performances by Heisnam (62) and Jiko Sorokhaibam (56) helped YWC put up a competitive total of 264 for 8 in the stipulated 40 overs.
Sanjay Kaphle was the chief destroyer for Muvanlai, taking 4 wickets in his 8-over spell as Soorat Kaphle did his bit with 3 wickets and L Thangsuanlian accounted for one.
In reply, Muvanlai could only manage 116 as they were bowled out in 35.3 overs.
Avinash Asmali (28), Md Aslam (17), Thangtingou Sitlhou (12) and Nandakumar Singh were the batters who got into double digits for the New Lambulane side.
For YWC, Ngangbam Bishwash Singh snapped 3 wickets, Maibam Subash Singh and Yenshenbam Vivek claimed 2 each, and Leishangthem Bishorjit, Seram Robinson and Soubam Robinson Singh took 1 apiece.
Ngangbam Bishwash was named man of the match.
ESU, meanwhile, inflicted a crushing 8-wicket defeat on SDC (Laipham Khunou) .
At Langthabal Public Ground.
The Wangkhei squad bundled out SDC for 76 in 28.4 overs and then chased down their target in 10.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand to register a huge victory in their campaign opener.
Hemthand Yumkham and Chongtham Mehul Shreth wreaked havoc on SDC's batting lineup.
The duo shared 9 wickets between them as Hemchand racked up a 5 wicket haul and Mehul too bowled well to take 4 wickets.
Their brilliant bowling display backed by Chittaranjan's one scalp paved the way for their team's emphatic win.
ESU then needed just 10.3 overs to achieve the target with Chongtham Mehul (33 not out) leading the run chase Yumkham Shivajit (32) was another notable contributor.
Chongtham Mehul Shreth earned the man-of-the-match accolade.
At Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, KCC strolled to a 116-run win over PSC (Khuyathong).
Batting first, KCC posted a mammoth total of 306 for 8 as Rohen Singh smashed 81 off 57 balls, with valuable contributions from Nameirakpam Arbin (43), Nongmaithem Dijaraj (39) and Hijam Boba (39 not out).
Then the KCC bowling unit led by Ibungomacha Hijam skittled out PSC for 190 in 36.2 overs.
Ibungomacha scalped 4 wickets, Ningthoujam Ranjan took 3 and Laimayum Prasanta Hit Sharma added 1 to give their side a commanding victory in their first match.
Moirangthem Rohen walked away with the man-of-the-match trophy.
