Thoubal, March 04 2022:
In a serious case of pre poll violence, a JD (U) supporter in Khangabok Constituency was stabbed while he was sleeping by a group of miscreants who barged into the house at around 2.30 am today.
Reportedly the miscreants, possibly supporters of a rival party, also beat the pregnant wife of the victim by dragging her to the courtyard for crying for help.
The victims of the horrific incident have been identified as Laishram Nagin (36), s/o (L) Koireng of Khangabok Part II Loishang Mamang Leikai and his wife Laishram ongbi Sakhenbi.
It is reported that Nagin was instantly taken to RIMS Hospital.
He is in serious
condition.
Denouncing the attack, a sit in protest was staged today at Khangabok women shed.
Speaking to the media, Sakhenbi said that her husband returned home early yesterday due to her condition.
Saying that her husband went to his bedroom after having dinner, Sakhenbi claimed that a supporter of a rival party in the neighbourhood started pelting stones towards their house for reasons not known to them.
Claiming that her husband dialled the person who pelted stones as his actions aggravated and targeted his brother in law's house too, Sakhenbi continued that her husband and the attacker exchanged some words in the telephonic conversation.
"After the incident, about 20 persons barged into our house by switching off the light and stabbed my husband at around 2.30 am," she claimed and alleged that she too was attacked using a bike chain for calling for help in front of her child and husband.
Asking why were they attacked so mercilessly, she urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and punish the perpetrators.
