Three remanded to custody

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal has remanded three persons to 10 days police custody today.
The three persons were arrested in connection with poll related violence yesterday night from Hangoon Litan Manak under Wabagai Assembly Constituency.
The accused persons have been identified as Md Noorhuda (27) s/o Tonthem of Santhel Mayai Leikai, Md Abdul Hamid (25) s/o Md Helaluddin of Santhel Mayai Leikai and Md Wahid Ali (33) s/o Md Habi of Sora Awang Leikai.
They were produced before the Court by a team of Hiyanglam police station along with a prayer to remand them to 10 days police custody so as to ensure smooth investigation of the case.
According to the IO of the case, they received an information around 11.45 last night that 10 to 15 unknown suspected workers of JD(U) candidate of Wabagai AC came to the house of Md Hazijauddin @ Tomba of Hangool Litan Manak in 2 four wheeler vehicles and threatened Md Hazijauddin with a gun at around 11.30 pm .
Upon hearing the commotion, neighbours and surrounding villagers rushed out and tried to catch the unknown persons but they fired some shots at the villagers and managed to escape.
However, the villagers successfully detained 3 persons along with two vehicles.
Based on the information, a team of Kakching district police rushed to the spot and found the three accused along with the two vehicles.
Upon checking the vehicle (Baleno), two single barrel guns with 12 bore live round cartridges and knife were recovered.
The team also recovered one single barrel and one double barrel gun upon checking the other vehicle (Maruti A Star) .
The IO further submitted that the accused persons are required to be remanded to police custody in order to extract more information from them to establish the facts of the case.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused persons to 10 days police custody till March 13 .
