Singjamei rallies against poll violence

Imphal, March 04 2022:
\A large number of people today took out a protest rally against poll related violence which took place within Singjamei Assembly segment.
The rally started from Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai and passed through different localities of the Assembly segment including Yumnam Leikai and Chingamakha.
The protesters carried placards which read "End violence, refuse to be silent", "Break the silence on violence", "We stand united against violence" etc.
It was alleged that a candidate's supporter tore a woman's shirt and snatched her stole.
Talking to the media, some women who took part in the rally said that a candidate's supporter not only tore a woman's shirt and snatched her stole but also shoved her by the chest in a violent incident that took place at 13/9 polling station (Chingamakha) .
They further alleged that workers of a particular candidate of Singjamei AC have been consistently trying to create fear psychosis among the public by unleashing all kinds of violent activities.
They said that the rally was specifically organised in denunciation of all such poll related violence.
They urged the authority concerned to take up befitting action against all those people who assaulted women and indulged in violent activities.
