Manipur were given an uphill task by Sikkim as the latter rode on centuries by Liyan Khan and Ankur to post a massive first innings total of 462 runs for 10 in 113.3 overs at Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground, Kolkata.
Having won the toss yesterday, Manipur elected to field first and got off to a flying start with Bishorjit Konthoujam removing the openers within 3.4 overs when the scoreboard read 13 .
Kangabam Priyojit then removed Nilesh for 18 to reduce Sikkim to 61/3 before Kranthi went out on duck to RK Rex on the fifth ball of the 14th over.
The Sikkim side's slump continued as Rex completed his two wicket haul removing Sumit on 4 for the fifth wicket.
Liyan who came out for the third wicket managed to withstood the pressure and stitched some runs with Ashish Thapa to take the score past
the hundred mark.
L Kishan Singha however managed to break the partnership removing Ashish Thapa on 21 making it 141 for 6 for Sikkim.
Liyan had another impressive partnership with Palzor Tamang but Priyojit managed to remove the latter on 43 reducing Mizoram to 245 for 7 within 71.1 overs.
Sikkim were 337 for 7 at Day 1 stumps with Liyan on unbeaten 156 and Ankur on unbeaten 63 .
Resuming the second day, Liyak Khan departed on the fourth ball of the 96th over when he was 179 off 237 balls.
Ankur however managed an unbeaten 126 off 17 fours and 2 sixes in only 130 balls to inspire Mizoram a massive total.
Bishorjit finished with the best bowling figure of 4/96 in 20.3 overs as L Kishan Singha (2/90), Rex (2/88) and K Priyojit (2/83) bagged two wickets apiece.
Manipur kicked off the first innings on a positive note with Nitesh Sedai and Al Bashid taking on the Sikkim bowlers with ease.
Al Bashid, however had to take a time out after being injured and Langlonyamba who turned into departed on 7 when it was 62 for Manipur and the team faltered when Johnson Singh was then sent off on 11 by Sikkim's debut player Tarun Sharma who also removed Narsingh Yadav on duck reducing Manipur to 114 for 3.Nitesh Sedai departed on 62 to Ankur Malik when Manipur was 118.Samson who came in for the fifth wicket departed cheaply on 3 before Al Bashid, who resumed his batting and departed on 25 .
After the swift downturn, Rex and Priyojit soaked up the pressure and kept the scoring on track.
Rex was the second batter for Manipur to hit a half century courtesy 10 fours and a six before he succumbed on 62 in the fourth delivery of the 63rd over to Tarun Sharma who was unstoppable today to finish with the best bowling figures 4/39 in 13 overs.
Priyojit was unbeaten on 40 and Bimol Singh on 6 when the second day was wrapped up with the scoreboard reading 238/7 for Manipur.
