1st ANSAM Martyrs' Trophy Football Tournament begins

Imphal, June 15 2022:
The first edition of "ANSAM Martyrs' Trophy Football Tournament" kicked off today at Sports Complex, Chandel Christian.
16 teams clubbed into two pools will compete in the knock-out tournament being organised by the All Naga Students' Association Manipur in collaboration with NSUC and DSA, Chandel.
The opening day saw completion of three Pool A matches.
In the opening match of the tournament, Anal Lelruwl Tangpi (ALT) knocked Zeme Students' Organisation, Manipur (ZSOM) out 6-0 as SR Kagaly and TS Nicky added two goals each.

ALT ran riot ZSOM defence from the word go and were 4-0 ahead before the break as Singual found the opener after 16 minutes before SR Kagaly made it 2-0 five minutes later.
TS Nicky then extended the lead to 3-0 in the 26th minute before HB Oliver struck the last goal of the first half two minutes later.
ZSOM continued to reel under pressure in the second half as well and their condition further deteriorated when TS Nicky slammed home ALT's fifth goal in the 37th minute and SR Kagaly took honour to round off the scoring in the 54th minute.
The second match of the tourney saw Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) cruised to a 5-2 win over Maring Students' Union (MSU) courtesy a double from Chinakho (20', 57').The other goals for the winning side were scored by Dahrii (27'), Dahle (30'), and Carlos (45') while goals for MSU were scored by Leirung (3') and Angdun (50') .
Later in the third match, Loveson scored thrice (17', 32' and 45') to hand Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) a 3-1 win over Theemjih Ten Tarao Ruulkhat/ Tarao Students' Union (TSU) .
TSU's goal came in the form of an own goal in the 20th minute as Maisuangthongbo of LNKR netted into his own net.
All Inpui Student's Union (AISU) will play Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong in the last Group A match tomorrow.
