Assam Rifles units conduct lectures

Imphal, June 15 2022:
Khoupum Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted an awareness lecture as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Campaign on ill effects of consumption of drugs, tobacco and alcohol for the local youth at Bishnupur, Noney and Churachandpur districts on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the lectures were organised to cultivate awareness among the youth about social, mental, physical and psychological effects of drug abuse as well as on importance of sports, physical fitness to fight against drug menace.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session in which queries raised by the youth were answered, and were guided and encouraged to aim for future recruitment rallies in Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion of IGAR(S) organ ised a lecture on anti-drug awareness to acquaint the local youth about the ill effects of drugs at Kom-lakhong village in Imphal West district on Wednesday.
During the event, 57 local youths including students of Moral Guidance English School, Kom-lakhong took the solemn oath to fight against drug abuse and get involved in nation-building activities, said the PRO, adding that the local populace applauded the efforts made by Assam Rifles for organising such an event and requested to frequently conduct more such lecture programmes so that the local youths and students can be benefited.
On the other hand, Sa-jik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a lecture on Indian Armed Forces at Saint Mary's School, Khullen village in Chandel district on Wednesday.
In all, 70 school children attended the lecture and they were briefed about various types of entries and qualifications criteria to join Indian Armed Forces.
The school administration and children appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in educating them on these aspects.
