Kangpokpi, June 15 2022:
Rainfall is a matter of cons-tant worry for more than 80 villages in Twilang area under four Assembly Constituencies viz Kangpokpi, Saitu, Tadubi, and Tamei as it often creates havoc along the 'already deplorable' Imphal-Tamenglong road.
Reportedly, the rainfall which lashed Kangpokpi and other parts of the State a few weeks back had badly damaged even the newly constructed PMGSY roads and the State's oldest highway, compelling various Ministers and MLAs to take stock of the situation.
Even as the visit by Ministers and MLAs has given a faint hope for permanent solution, people in Twilang areas have again been distressed again due to the incessant rainfall witnessed since the last few days.

Fortunately, villagers of Tapon Namsan and Tapon Namguang set an exemplary humanitarian service this time by repairing the damaged road voluntarily amidst the heavy rainfall for the commuters to reach their destination safe and sound.
It is worth mentioning that the PMGSY road from Chawangkining to Tapon is currently the only motorable road in the area as mudslides at Lamlenkon cut Imphal-Tamenglong road and the alternate PMGSY road between Thonglang Atongba and Lamchok.
Some sections of Chawangkining-Tapon PMGSY road were also damaged by the heavy rainfall near Tapon Namsan and Tapon Namguang villages and it is not yet motorable.
The people of the two villages braved the heavy rain yesterday and repaired the damaged road with eight Shaktiman loads of stones donated by the villagers.
Dinpi Mareanmai, general secretary of Liangmai Naga Council Eastern Zone said that they carried out the work so as to not wait on Government assistance only in ensuring the safety of the commuters.
J Chawang, chairman of Tapon Namsan village authority, said that even moderate rainfall has become troublesome for them.
Meanwhile, JMDC chairman Lutngam appreciated the exemplary work of Tapon Namsan and Tapon Namguang villagers while extending gratitude to the two village authorities for the noble gesture.
The JMDC chairman also appealed to the authorities concerned and the Chief Minister Minister to acknowledge the noble work done by the villagers of Tapon Namsan and Tapon Namguang.
