Imphal, July 12, 2013:
As All Manipur Judo Association allows only individual judokas to participate in the 19th State Level Judo Championship, around 150 judokas from different clubs, who are undergoing training under qualified trainers, have not been able to participate in the event.
Addressing a press conference in this regard at the Mayang Imphal Thaba Wangkhei Leikai office of Mayai Lambi Sporting Association (MALSA) today, Dijendro Mangang, Advisor of BBA stated that the newly constituted 'unorthodox' rules and regulations of the championship may not be found in other parts of the world.
If players from any club participated in the championship, they would not be able to return to their club and show their face in front of their teachers as the conduct of the event is against the convention of the game, and this would surely ruin their future career.
As a rule when any dispute arises during the play, team coach or manager are there make the complaint on behalf of the player.
But in this championship, which has kick started from today, participating players have to make their complaints without anyone's help, he added.
The Advisor of BBA alleged that the present regulation is like participating in the Olympic by individuals but not representing a country.
The championship that would continue till 14th July has been designed with malicious intention to spoil the career of players.
